UW-Green Bay leads wild rice planting effort in Bay restoration effort
The Green Bay Press-Gazette featured a story about area conservation professionals and volunteers taking to the water this week to seed wild rice across 19 acres of the bay of Green Bay. The seeding is part of a week-long restoration project that will distribute nearly 2,000 pounds of wild rice across 38 acres of lower Green Bay and the bay’s west shore. “We’re out here late in the fall to be able to get the seed out and into the sediment so that it’s ready to go for germination next spring,” said Amy Carrozzino-Lyon, Green Bay Restoration Project Coordinator at UW-Green Bay.
