That Phoenix men’s basketball fan who had a frightening accident at the end of the Oct. 31 exhibition game? Stitched up and with a broken nose but otherwise OK, he watched practice last Friday and met with the team members who rushed to his aid. The Green Bay Press-Gazette on Saturday (Nov. 10) told the story of fan Adam Kraus, who was looking at the scoreboard and not watching where he was guiding his wheelchair as the final seconds of the game at the Kress Events Center ticked away. He took a frightening tumble down a short flight of chairs, and the team wasted no time in rushing to Kraus’ aid. They lifted his 350-lb wheelchair off of him and helped him until paramedics arrived. “I think this kind of puts it into perspective,” Coach Brian Wardle told reporter Patti Zarling after Friday’s practice. “Basketball is a small part of life. How they treat people is something they should think about throughout life. It doesn’t surprise me that they responded the way they did. These are the kind of kids I get to coach every day.” Great story.
