In the news: LGBT community reacts to Baldwin’s historic win

Members of UW-Green Bay’s LGBT community weighed in Wednesday (Nov. 7) on the historic election of Tammy Baldwin, the first openly gay candidate elected to the U.S. Senate. TV-26 reporter Deandra Corinthios spent some time at the LGBTQ Center in the Union, chatting with center coordinator Stacie Christian and student Collin Cowart about Baldwin’s victory. “Our families can be part of the communities too,” Christian said. “We feel safer because she’s in office.” Added Cowart: “Hopefully we will start to see more people of the LGBT community, not only within the Senate but within the House of Representatives as well.” Full story.
