In the media: Fermanich talks Green Bay ‘dead zone’ with local TV news
We told you here recently about attention being paid to the so-called “dead zone” developing in the bay of Green Bay, and local concerns pertaining thereto. Wednesday (Aug. 22), both WBAY, Channel 2 and WLUK, Fox 11 ran stories on the issue, speaking with NAS Prof. Kevin Fermanich and others about the areas where so little oxygen is present that fish and marine life struggle to survive. “It definitely needs to be addressed, partly because it’s increasing,” Fermanich told WBAY reporter Patrick Nelson. “We’re concerned with climate change, we’re expecting more runoff during the winter months, which would mean there’d be more nutrient loading then.” The local news stories follow last week’s Wall Street Journal piece.
