In the news: Alumna, shelter busier than ever after city signs new deal on strays

Alumna Amanda Reitz ’08 and her staff at the no-kill Happily Ever After animal shelter continue to experience an influx of strays in the wake of a new city of Green Bay contract with Packerland Veterinary Center. Stray animals are taken to Packerland and held for seven days, at which time Happily Ever After takes them in, according to a WBAY, Action 2 News story that aired Monday (Aug. 5). Since June 1, when the contract went into effect, Happily Ever After has taken in 140 strays, meaning increased work for Reitz and her team of dedicated volunteers. Reitz, who is president and founder of the shelter, said she’s looking to raise awareness in the community and let people know there are animals up for adoption. Full story
