Camp for young black males makes campus debut
UW-Green Bay this week is hosting a brand-new summer camp designed to motivate young black males to finish high school and attend college. The Phoenix Scholar Identity Institute is funded by a Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction grant and presented in conjunction with the Green Bay School District. Fourteen students who will enter eighth grade this fall are attending the inaugural camp, living on campus, meeting with local black professionals and learning about goal-setting and other predictors of future success.
