UW System textbook theft suspects indicted
Two textbook thieves have now been indicted for their alleged connection with a scheme to steal college textbooks across multiple states, and resell them in Texas. This was all thanks to the diligent work by UW-Green Bay Police and IT. By sending out surveillance photos, using cell phone technology and other methods, Chief Tom Kujawa said officers tracked down the suspects and learned they allegedly sold the stolen textbooks to a business in Texas which then sold the books to college students. NBC26 has video coverage of the story featuring an interview with Kujawa.
WBAY also reported on the capture and hopeful prosecution of the two Texas residents who allegedly stole college textbooks from several UW campuses. UW-Green Bay Police and IT professionals are credited with the eventual arrest.
