In the news: Grandparents, grandkids shoot for the moon at GPU
It’s been a fun and busy couple of days for 150 grandparents and grandchildren attending the seventh year of Grandparents’ University here on campus. From rocketry and cooking to music, art and more, these multigenerational learners are taking a variety of courses while spending valuable time together. The Green Bay Press-Gazette came to campus Thursday (July 12) to cover the action, and we’ve linked to a great story, photos and video. We especially like this video quote from one enthusiastic participant: “We’re going to the moon together. We’ve decided.” You go, Grandma. Check out the coverage here: story and video.
And speaking of GPU: Phlash makes roller coaster debut
Pictures with the mascot and trips to Bay Beach Amusement Park are among the highlights for GPU attendees both young and old. Thursday night, they got to experience the best of both worlds as our own Phlash Phoenix made a Bay Beach cameo, riding the Zippin Pippin roller coaster for the first time. Phlash offered an enthusiastic post-ride thumbs-up, but had no verbal comment. (Everyone knows mascots can’t talk.) Check out a fun photo gallery chronicling the bird’s coaster adventure.
