Public Safety’s Eagle rescue continues to make news
WBAY, Channel 2 is among the media outlets picking up the feel-good story of an injured eagle rescued Friday (June 21) by UW-Green Bay Police. As we told you here last week, the eagle got officers’ attention when it was spotted perched relatively low to the ground on the Cofrin Arboretum Trail, moving very little as runners and others passed below. On the advice of Animal Control, officers were able to capture the juvenile bird and bring it to the Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary for evaluation. Experts there aren’t exactly sure what happened, but the eagle — which has only one eye — is on antibiotics and being rehydrated while sanctuary staff determine if it can be re-released into the wild, WBAY reported. A shorter version of reporter Kristyn Allen’s story ran at noon; the full story is expected to air at 4 p.m. today. Check it out.
