UW-Green Bay training has youngsters flying high
A group of area students got the chance to take to the skies Friday, thanks to a UW-Green Bay program that encourages interest in aviation. Presented by UWGB Youth Opportunities, the one-day Aviation Student Training Experience at Austin Straubel International Airport teaches participants about basic aerodynamic principals involved in flying, as well as training needed for and career opportunities associated with aviation. Tours include the Green Bay control tower and radar center, Tailwind Flight School and the National Weather Service. The day’s events culminate with a flight in a training aircraft, which is a first for some enthusiastic participants. Check out coverage from the Green Bay Press-Gazette.
