Press-Gazette: keeping UW System unified a wise move
An editorial in Wednesday’s (June 8) Green Bay Press-Gazette praised the state Joint Finance Committee for its vote Friday to keep UW Madison in the UW System and offer administrative flexibilities to all System campuses. The newspaper previously had said both the New Badger Partnership and its alternative Wisconsin Idea Partnership deserved a thorough public airing before any decisions were made. “Although no major changes to the UW System are part of the current budget proposal,” the editorial states, “all campuses will receive a bit more independence in their ability to control certain aspects of administrative operations. That’s probably the best first step before any further discussion takes place about transforming the future of Wisconsin’s university system.” Read the full editorial here.
