Public radio features Howe, long-running bird survey

With less than two weeks to go until the 25th annual Nicolet National Forest Bird Survey, UW-Green Bay Prof. Robert Howe continues to drum up interest in his long-running work. Wisconsin Public Radio’s Patty Murray spoke with Howe for a story that ran earlier this week, detailing his commitment to the annual volunteer event — Howe has yet to miss one — in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. The Associated Press picked up the story, giving Howe’s impressive work an even wider audience. Here’s a link to the print version of Murray’s story (you’ll have to scroll down to the June 1 “Bird populations” entry).

And in case you missed it, here’s our in-house feature on Howe and his dedicated team of fowl-loving friends.
