Press-Gazette chronicles 50 UWGB performances in 50 years
“From Seinfeld to Fallon to Cash and Hootie, the University has hosted hundreds of big names.” The Green Bay Press-Gazette’s Kendra Meinert, chronicles her favorites. “Green Bay’s entertainment landscape of the past 50 years would look far different without the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay,” she writes. “Since it was founded in 1965, UWGB has hosted thousands of acts — Grammy-winning rock bands, great American authors, TV sitcom stars, A-list comedians, country music legends, one-hit wonders and regional bands — at venues that span the Shorewood Club of the ’70s to the arrival of the Weidner Center in 1993 and the University Union rooms and campus hillsides in between. See Meinert’s favorite acts and, as she notes, “a few backstage stories that might surprise you.”
