St. Norbert College and UW-Green Bay announce partnership

(WLUK) — St. Norbert College and the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay announced a resource-sharing agreement Thursday.

College leaders say the agreement will allow students in some degree programs to study between one institution and the other.

In other programs St. Norbert College students can complete three years at St. Norbert College and then the final two years at UW-Green Bay to earn their undergraduate and graduate degree. St. Norbert will honor the UW-Green Bay tuition rate where applicable when UW-Green Bay students take classes at St. Norbert, and the reverse.

Program partnerships could begin as soon as this fall.

Currently, the following classes/program credits will transfer between St. Norbert and UW-Green Bay:

Classes SNC students can take at UWGB

  • German, Russian, Arabic, and Oneida language classes
  • Engineering

Undergraduate to Graduate 3 + 2 programs:

  • Master of Athletic Training
  • M.S. Nutrition and Integrated Health
  • M.S. Sport, Exercise and Performance Psychology
  • M.S. Supply Chain Management (upcoming)

Classes UWGB students can take at SNC

  • French language classes
  • Engineering Physics
  • Economics

“This collaboration with UW-Green Bay is a win-win for both institutions–and most importantly for the students we serve,” said Laurie M. Joyner, Ph.D., president of St. Norbert College. “This partnership strengthens our Norbertine tradition of engagement in the local community. And given the enrollment and financial challenges in higher education today, these partnerships are critical in providing the best well-rounded education students want and deserve.”

“Students win when institutions collaborate to build on the strengths that each college brings to the communities they serve,” said UW-Green Bay Chancellor Michael Alexander. “Rather than try to provide everything our region needs in higher education on our own, students and the community become better when we partner with each other, ensuring our students and the region can benefit from having two stronger, yet different institutions.”

The news comes as St. Norbert announced 12 new degree programs amid a $9 million budget deficit over the next two financial years. UWGB recently increased tuition above and beyond an increase at all Universities of Wisconsin schools.
