Many call it ‘snub,’ but Wardle takes high road
If you watched last night’s NCAA Tournament selection show on CBS, you no doubt noticed that “Green Bay” was mentioned frequently as one of the most deserving teams left out of the field of 68. Studio hosts, analysts and even the chair of the selection committee, interviewed about the decision-making process, addressed the Phoenix’s status as a worthy candidate. Others, though, suggested the committee made a mistake. USA Today headlined one of its stories “Green Bay, SMU headline list of NCAA tournament snubs.” Phoenix Coach Brian Wardle was more reflective. “We knew we put our fate in other people’s hands, in the committee’s hands,” Wardle said, adding, “We knew it was going to be kind of a toss-up, getting into the tournament.” Read more.
