Helpap on high court: Closed-door conferences could be viewed negatively

Public and Environmental Affairs lecturer David Helpap lent his expertise to a Thursday (March 1) Press-Gazette editorial, noting that the state Supreme Court’s decision to close its administrative conferences to the public is a noticeable move in a tumultuous time for the body. The high court’s previous policy of open discussion was unique, Helpap said, but given a contentious year, the decision could be seen as an effort to shield the public from what has become a divisive court.
