‘Seattle Times’ profiles Phuture Phoenix offshoot, talks program’s origins
UW-Green Bay’s signature Phuture Phoenix program got a little love way out west this weekend, as it was featured in The Seattle Times’ Education Lab series. The story profiles Western Washington University’s Compass 2 Campus program, one of several Phuture Phoenix replicas that have been established after PP’s success here. That campus, of course, is now home to former UW-Green Bay Chancellor Bruce Shepard and his wife Cyndie, who co-founded the Green Bay program with Ginny Riopelle. The Times tells how Shepard and Riopelle were inspired to start Phuture Phoenix, and how it has evolved and spread. Education Chair Tim Kaufman is quoted, and speaks about the importance of planting the seed of college attainment. Full story.
