Former cheerleader earns kudos, media attention for cyberbullying stance
We told you yesterday about a former UW-Green Bay cheerleader who’s making headlines after standing up to online cyberbullying that occurred earlier this week. Kaitlyn Collins created a YouTube video after a Chicago Bears fan site posted a photo of her that precipitated nasty comments (UW-Green Bay cheerleaders pull double-duty for the Packers’ home games, and it was in that capacity that Collins was photographed). Collins’ calm yet firm response drew praise from online commenters and even the Packers themselves, who on Thursday issued a statement of support (tweets from and Donald Driver and TJ Lang did likewise). Late Thursday, the photo was removed from Facebook — in the meantime, Collins’ video has been viewed more than 193,000 times (as of early afternoon Friday), and her story was shared across the country.
