The UW-Green Bay women’s basketball squad is 9-0 this season, has won 27 consecutive regular-season games and has climbed into the Associated Press Top 25 rankings. Following Saturday’s 83-37 thrashing of Evansville University, the Phoenix is ranked 23rd in the nation. This marks the fourth season in the past seven that the Phoenix has earned a spot in the Top 25. Heading the rankings is unbeaten UConn, which collected all 40 first-place votes and 1,000 voter points. Green Bay, with 94 points, is just behind Nebraska, Pittsburgh and Kansas, and just ahead of James Madison and Georgia Tech. Saturday’s game was a homecoming for head coach Matt Bollant, who began his collegiate coaching career as an assistant coach at Evansville. The Phoenix has a week’s rest before hosting Marquette University at 7 p.m. Saturday in the Kress Events Center.
