Faculty note: Professors Martin and Voelker published chapters
UW-Green Bay Prof. Ryan Martin (Psychology and Human Development) and Associate David Voelker (Humanities) have published chapters in a new book released this month, titled SoTL in Action: Illuminating Critical Moments of Practice. SoTL — or the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning — refers research on student learning carried out across many different fields. Martin’s chapter is titled “Respect, Justice, and Doing Good: The Ethics Review” and addresses the ethical components of SoTL, including the Institutional Review Board (IRB) process. Voelker’s chapter, “Reading SoTL: Exploring Scholarly Conversations,” provides a guide to purposeful study of SoTL research. Learn more. Voelker and Martin have been active in SoTL at UW-Green Bay and in the UW System. Both are former co-directors of the UW-Green Bay Teaching Scholars program, and Voelker is currently in his sixth and final year as co-director of the statewide Wisconsin Teaching Fellows & Scholars program.
