Faculty note: Kain, colleague receive grant for international conference
Humanistic Studies Prof. Kevin Kain and a colleague from the University of Leipzig (Germany) have been awarded nearly 25,000 euros in grant funds to fully fund a conference taking place next fall at the Geisteswissenschaftliches Zentrum Geschichte und Kultur Ostmitteleuropas at the University of Leipzig. The Sept. 17-20, 2013 conference co-organized by Kain and colleague Wolfram von Sheliha is titled “The Moscow Patriarchate (1589-1721): Power, Belief, Image and Legitimacy, an Interdisciplinary International Symposium.” The event will bring together more than 20 scholars from nine countries, including historians, art historians, Slavists, theologians and museum curators.
