Speaking on Syria: Levintova offers context in interview with WFRV
Associate Prof. Katia Levintova offered context prior to President Obama’s Tuesday (Sept. 10) speech on Syria, speaking about the high stakes and possible outcomes during an interview with WFRV, Channel 5. “He needs to again appeal to the human rights violations .. to convince the American public,” Levintova said about the president’s case for intervention. “He also needs to tell us he’s exhausted all other avenues.” Levintova also spoke about the possibility for a diplomatic solution, after news came Tuesday that Syria had agreed to hand over its chemical weapons. “Regardless of what happens (in Obama’s speech),” Levintova said, “there will be people who are disappointed domestically and internationally and people who will applaud his decision.” Full story.
