‘Plan your crazy’: Gurung column offers tips for kicking off the school year

Prof. Regan A. R. Gurung is advising students to kick off the school year in the right way, offering tips that include “plan your crazy” in a column in Thursday’s (Sept. 4) Green Bay Press-Gazette. Gurung, UW-Green Bay’s Ben J. and Joyce Rosenberg Professor of Human Development and Psychology, says that good planning is critical but too few of us plan poorly or not at all. Students should plan their classes, homework and the like, as well as making time for fun, Gurung says. “Plan your crazy,” he writes. “When you do not plan for fun, fun happens, distracts us and derails all our plans to do work. … Planning your crazy not only ensures you have fun, giving you a break from work, but (and this is particularly important for college students who can find themselves in trouble when they get carried away getting crazy) it is also a safety valve.” Check out more of Gurung’s advice.
