Regents approve budget request; Franz offers UW-Green Bay perspective
UW-Green Bay’s Kelly Franz offered some local perspective on the UW System’s budget request for a story in Friday’s (Aug. 24) Green Bay Press-Gazette. Franz, vice chancellor for business and finance, said the anticipated lack of a base cut to the System is good news, particularly with the current state of the economy. The System Board of Regents on Thursday voted to approve a biennial budget proposal that seeks an additional $21 million in state funding, which will be used for specific efforts connected to performance measures, including the System’s new flexible-degree initiative. The board on Thursday also approved the 2013-15 capital budget request, which includes $187 million in new state-supported bonding for four major construction projects at UW-Madison, La Crosse and Stevens Point.
