Citizens behaving badly: Dale weighs in on Grand Chute spitting incident
UW-Green Bay’s Tim Dale was interviewed for a TV story on political incivility this weekend after a local scuffle between a Mitt Romney supporter and a protester went viral. As you may have heard (and seen) by now, the protester spit in the face of the supporter during a Grand Chute event, causing the supporter to hit and scratch the protester in return. Pretty classy stuff, no doubt — but perhaps not unusual. “We’ve seen this in American history before,” Dale said. “We’ve had a lot of contentious political debates where people have committed violence. And so, we aren’t really seeing violence, we’re just seeing people — every once in a while misbehaving because the emotions are so high.” Full story.
