Callie and Kelly shine at Grandma’s Marathon
Former UW-Green Bay cross-country standout Callie Bartel posted a fine 3:07:26 at a cool, wet Grandma’s Marathon last weekend in Duluth. That was good for 38th place out of the 2,343 women who participated. (If you recall our recent LOG story, Bartel is a 2009 Human Biology graduate of UW-Green Bay and a first-year assistant athletics trainer for Phoenix Athletics who was recently selected to assist as an athletic trainer for the U.S. Paralympic Team.) On the men’s side, we note also that Vice Chancellor Kelly Franz finished the Grandma’s in 3:57:21, which placed him almost exactly middle of the pack (1,638th out of 3,272 men) and scored well for his age group. Congratulations to both.
