In the media: Juliet Cole featured in story on minority girls and college

Our own Juliet Cole was featured Thursday (June 14) in a front-page Green Bay Press-Gazette story about minority girls and college. Cole, associate director for UW-Green Bay’s Institute for Learning Partnership, talked about this summer’s pilot Phoenix Scholars program, an on-campus experience that helps black middle school girls get a taste of college life. “Some are from backgrounds where parents may not have gone to college,” Cole said. “Parents want what is best for their children, but they may not know how to go about it. The answers are complex. We need to look at curriculum, staff, and we need to partner with parents. If they are inspired, we need to provide support.” Read the full story.
