Voelker, co-author win award for scholarly article on teaching of history

Prof. David Voelker, Humanistic Studies and History, is co-winner of the 2012 Maryellen Weimer Scholarly Work on Teaching and Learning Award, which recognizes “outstanding scholarly contributions with the potential to advance college-level teaching and learning practices.”  Voelker and co-author Joel Sipress of UW-Superior won the award for their article, “The End of the History Survey Course: The Rise and Fall of the Coverage Model.” Their piece appeared in the March 2011 issue of the Journal of American History.  The Weimer award is made by the publication The Teaching Professor; this year there were more than 100 nominations from a variety of disciplines.
