Aldrete tapes video course ‘Decisive Battles of World History’
Historian Gregory S. Aldrete, professor of Humanistic Studies, is the featured professor in a 36-lecture video course newly released by the Great Courses/Teaching Company. It is called “The Decisive Battles of World History.” It examines the pivotal battles throughout all recorded time and around the globe which have constituted key turning points in history, shaping and determining religions, borders, and cultures. Aldrete covers battles from Actium (31 B.C.) and Yarmouk and al-Qadisiyyah (636 A.D.) up through Trenton, Tenochtitlán, and Trafalgar. From the familiar through the forgotten (a 1939 battle in Mongolia that played an important role in the outbreak and outcome of World War II.
