Assistant Prof. Adam Parrillo of Urban and Regional Studies is co-author of the article, “Universities and Hospitals as Agents of Economic Stability and Growth in Small Cities: A Comparative Analysis,” being published in the upcoming issue of The Industrial Geographer. The research examines two regions with very different cultural and economic histories that appear to now have converging “economic trajectories” with medical facilities and universities playing much larger roles in local economic development. Co-authored with Mark de Socia of Salisbury (Maryland) University, their work is referenced in a news story at Delmarvanow.com that mentions their “eds and meds” research.
