Van Gruensven talks hiring trends for story in Wednesday’s ‘Press-Gazette’
The Green Bay Press-Gazette took a front-page look at college and university hiring trends Wednesday (March 5), interviewing our own Sheryl Van Gruensven about changes in numbers of full- and part-time faculty, as well as administrators. Van Gruensven notes that with increased online course offerings comes the need to hire more part-time instructors, and that how those hires are classified has changed over time. She also explains that while it behooves institutions to have tenured faculty, finding full-time folks isn’t always possible. On the administrative side, UW-Green Bay is lean and efficient — in the time period considered (2004-2012), the number of administrators dropped by more than a third.
