He opened by thanking UW-Green Bay and Chancellor Tom Harden for welcoming all the visitors to campus. He acknowledged local Democratic candidates including state Sen. Dave Hansen, a University alumnus. He urged the UW-Green Bay students in the audience to support those who support education and want to make college more affordable. Mostly, he showed that a skilled, old-time politician could talk policy and politics for a full hour in a folksy, generous tone that while sometimes pointed also seemed to avoid all-out partisan attack.
