Attacking Alzheimer’s volleyball match happening Friday Sept. 23

Dear Friends and Family,

The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay Women’s Volleyball Team will be hosting their fourth annual Attacking Alzheimer’s Match on Friday September 23. The match against Robert Morris begins at 6 p.m., and will be held at the Kress Events Center on the UW-Green Bay campus. Prior to the match, beginning at 4:30 p.m., there will be a social gathering in the Phoenix Club, adjacent to the arena. This year, UW-Green Bay Volleyball is partnering with the Alzheimer’s Association. The proceeds from this match will go towards research to end Alzheimer’s and to help enhance care for those living with the disease. If you’re available that evening, both the Phoenix and the Alzheimer’s Association would love your support.

Rhonda has now been living with this devastating disease for over 11 years. With a great deal of help, I was able to keep Rhonda at home for as long as possible. It eventually became clear that I could no longer provide her with the care that she deserved. Rhonda spent 3-1/2 years in a memory care facility. In January 2021, due to her deteriorating condition, we needed to move her to a skilled nursing facility. There have been some ups and many downs, but we do know that Rhonda would have wanted our family to use this platform to help others cope with this dreadful disease. If you’d like, the Alzheimer’s Association will be accepting donations at the door, or a check can be mailed to me (please make checks out to the Alzheimer’s Association). Donations can also be made by accessing the following link: act.alz.org/goto/UWGBVolleyball. We have been truly blessed to have such wonderful friends and family. THANK YOU!! Your generosity and love mean more than you’ll ever know. For the sake of our children and grandchildren, we must find a cure. Please feel free to forward this message to anyone you think may be interested.

Sincerely, Rob & Rhonda
