Faculty trumpeter Adam Gaines will be joined by pianist David Severtson, horn player Michelle McQuade Dewhirst and trombone player Kevin Collins in a free recital at 7:30 p.m. this Saturday (Sept. 25) in Fort Howard Hall of the Weidner Center. The program features classical pieces including “Abblasen” by Gottfried Reiche, “Voluntary No. 1” by William Boyce, “Sonata for Horn, Trumpet and Trombone” by Francis Poulenc, “Sonata #9 in C major, Op.103” by Sergei Prokofiev, and “Sonata for Trumpet and Piano” by Halsey Stevens. “These pieces are all very classical and refined, and offer me the chance to show my students that I practice what I preach in lessons all the time,” Gaines says.
