HUS, Sheepshead welcome visiting author McGlynn

Next Monday (Sept. 22) the Humanistic Studies unit hosts the visit of esteemed fiction and nonfiction writer David McGlynn, assistant professor of English at Lawrence University. He is the former managing editor of Western Humanities Review, and the author of the freshly published story collection The End of the Straight and Narrow, which is generating critical praise. (Said Publishers Weekly, “McGlynn’s superlatively crafted, deeply sympathetic debut story collection traces the spiritual agonies of Christians trying to make sense of their faith within the vicissitudes of human nature. . . .”

Prof. Rebecca Meacham says both events are free and open to the public:

  • Fiction Reading and Q&A, 1 to 2 p.m. in the Union’s 1965 Room — McGlynn will read from his new story collection, followed by Q&A. Books will be on sale at the event.
  • Talk on literary publishing and publications, 5:15 p.m., Theatre Hall 310 — McGlynn will speak to an audience including staff of Sheepshead Review (UW-Green Bay’s journal of the arts).
