UW-Green Bay the site for ‘Great Lakes Gathering’

The Lake Michigan Shorelands Alliance and the Gathering Waters Conservancy is inviting interested citizens to “help preserve and improve the ecological, economic and human health of Wisconsin’s Lake Michigan Basin.” The groups have scheduled one of four Great Lakes Gatherings — the others are in Sheboygan, Mequon and Milwaukee — for Tuesday, Sept. 16, from 8 a.m. to noon in the University Union’s Phoenix Room. A glance at the program indicates speakers will include a former EPA official along with Mayor Jim Schmitt, Baird Creek activist Steve Lambert (a UW-Green Bay grad), and educator and environmentalist Ron Vander Velden, a past winner of UW-Green Bay’s Distinguished Alumni Award.
