UW-Green Bay jazz ensembles set program for March 7 show
UW-Green Bay Music will feature its Jazz I Ensemble, Jazz II Ensemble and Vocal Jazz Ensemble during a concert of classic standards and lesser-known works at 7:30 p.m. Thursday (March 7) in the University Theatre. Jazz II Ensemble directed by Adam Gaines will perform pieces: including “Mood Indigo” by Duke Ellington, “Baker Street” by Gerry Rafferty “A Foggy Day” by the Gershwins. Next up, the Vocal Jazz Ensemble program includes music written and arranged by a local jazz legend, the late Todd Buffa. The concert concludes with four pieces by UW-Green Bay’s Jazz I Ensemble directed by John Salerno, including “Donna Lee” and “Blues for Alice” by Charlie Parker,” “Rhythmism” by recent guest artist Bob Washut, and “Darn That Dream” by Jimmy Van Heusen.
