UW-Green Bay Jazz Ensembles to perform renowned, lesser-known works

UW-Green Bay Music will feature its Jazz I Ensemble, Jazz II Ensemble and Vocal Jazz Ensemble during the eighteenth concert of the 2012-2013 music season at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Mar. 7 at University Theatre.

UW-Green Bay’s Jazz II Ensemble directed by Adam Gaines will start the program and will perform four pieces: “Mood Indigo” by Duke Ellington and arranged by Jerry Nowak, “Baker Street” by Gerry Rafferty and arranged by Dave Wolpe, “A Foggy Day” by George and Ira Gershwin and arranged by Lennie Niehaus, as well as “Coconut Champagne” by Denis DiBlasio as adapted by Bob Lowden.

The second performance of the concert will be from UW-Green Bay’s Vocal Jazz Ensemble directed by Chris Salerno. The ensemble will perform “Happying” by Todd Buffa, “Words” by Anders Edenroth, “Morning” by Paul and Lisa Stiller, and “Watch What Happens” by Michael LeGrand and arranged by Todd Buffa.

The concert will conclude with a performance by UW-Green Bay’s Jazz I Ensemble directed by John Salerno. Their program features four pieces: “Blues for Alice” by Charlie Parker and arranged by Kyle Sweeney, “Rhythmism” by Bob Washut, “Darn That Dream” by Jimmy Van Heusen and arranged by Sam Stranz, and “Donna Lee” by Charlie Parker and arranged by John Salerno.
