Phoenix Friday: Thanks for Giving, Parade, Milsap and more

The Phoenix Bookstore is sponsoring a “Thanks for Giving” promo this week that adds up to great savings in exchange for a bit of charity. Donate canned goods for 1=10%, 2=20%, 3 or more=30% off your entire apparel and gift purchase. All proceeds go to the UW-Green Bay Campus Cupboard. Don’t miss “It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play,” a two-day show that ends Friday (Nov. 20). Playing CheapSeats is “Straight Outta Compton.” Green Bay women’s basketball hosts Vanderbilt at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Kress Center, while the men open their home season Sunday noon at the Resch vs UMD.  Legendary performer Ronnie Milsap is at the Weidner Center at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Finally, Chancellor Miller and his wife Georgia are serving as Grand Marshalls for this year’s AT&T Green Bay Holiday Parade. The parade begins at 10 a.m. They will be followed by the always popular (and, last year, award-winning) UW-Green Bay parade float, following this year’s “Sounds of the Season” theme with a theme of their own, “Every time a bell rings, a Phoenix gets its wings.  It’s a Wonderful University.” Rumor has it that there will be a lot of candy given away during this special 50th anniversary year!
