Prof. Morgan’s café talk: ‘Citizen Activism in a Digital Age’
Prof. Eric Morgan (Democracy and Justice Studies) is the featured speaker for this month’s edition of Philosophers Café. The gathering takes place from 7 to 8:30 p.m. this Wednesday (Nov. 7) at the Harmony Café, 1660 W. Mason St. His discussion topic, “Citizen Activism in a Digital Age,” will pose questions about activism in an increasingly interconnected but fragmented world of blogs and social networking media. What is the impact on sustained, widespread and in-depth grassroots movements — from history, think abolitionism or civil rights — when today’s society tends toward the fragmented and hyperkinetic? Admission is free and open to all; the monthly Philosophers Café discussions are co-sponsored by faculty at UW-Green Bay and St. Norbert College.
