An Elvis sighting! And more! Laffle prize list grows

A few more neat prizes have been added to the prize list for this fall’s universitywide “Laffle.”

The prizes are intended to generate interest as the Registrar’s Office collects donations for the “Pair and a Spare” charity drive which asks, as people do their own shopping for clothes and personal items this fall, to remember that disadvantaged children are doing without.

Joining the initial prize, a handsome wool craft piece, are two new donations:

  • A certified authentic souvenir license plate, “Elvis 1,” purchased in Memphis, Tenn., at the Graceland gift shop on the occasion of the state of Tennessee’s bicentennial celebration in 1996. For some strange reason, it is mounted in a UW-Milwaukee license plate holder, but it can be detached and discarded (the Panther frame, not the Elvis plate).
  • A gift basket from Von Stiehl Winery of Algoma, Wis.
