Garden Stand nears final harvest with big sale Thursday
A hard frost can’t be far off, which will bring an end to the SLO Food Alliance weekly garden stand for this year. Rainy Thursday mornings the last two weeks have precluded harvesting, but the forecast looks good for this week, so the garden stand will be set up in the University Union at 10:30 a.m. this Thursday (Sept. 30). Look for the last of the peppers (sweet and hot), tomatoes and beans, plus lots of pumpkins and winter squash. The students send a huge thanks to all the loyal garden stand patrons. With your support and the support of A’viands and Kavarna Cafe, the organization raised nearly $1,000 on produce sales this summer and fall! The group hopes to use the funds to offset costs of a spring break trip in March to tour organic farms in the southeast part of the United States.
