Laura Menard wins CSB First Annual Art Competition

Congratulation to Laura Menard, accounting student, who received first place in the first annual Cofrin School of Business Art Competition! Laura’s piece is now a part of the Cofrin School of Business’ permanent collection, and will be displayed on the first floor of Wood Hall for the 2023-24 academic year before moving upstairs to the faculty and staff office spaces. Come by and admire the unique mixed media design! The artist’s statement describes the artwork: “The Phoenix of Industry Rising symbolizes how our ancestors grew Northeast Wisconsin through innovation and industry. This mixed-media piece began with a collage of vintage ephemera papers saved from past generations. Only preowned items were used to represent the deep-rooted midwestern traits of sustainability and reusability. Integrity, hard work, collaboration, leadership, courtesy, respect, and honesty are a few of the gears that continue to turn at UWGB-Cofrin School of Business to aid in our community’s rise to greatness.” Community Engagement is a core value of the Cofrin School of Business (CSB). The CSB Art Competition seeks to showcase the power of philanthropy to build community by inspiring creativity through support for UW-Green Bay artists. “Giving back time and treasures to the community that raised us, the community that we raise our families in, and, specifically, to the college that helped cultivate our success, is part of the gratitude we owe for our individual achievement” said Joel Hansen, UWGB alum, CFO of Pomp’s Tire Service, Inc., and Cofrin School of Business Advisory Board member, who has provided the funding for this annual competition. Applications for this year’s competition are now open until November 1st! It is open to all UWGB students of any major and any campus. See details and apply here.
