"Birdbrains" welcome for annual study

Prof. Robert Howe, director of the Cofrin Center for Biodiversity, is seeking volunteers to assist with a study that is literally for the birds. The 25th annual Nicolet National Forest Bird Survey will take place June 10-12 at the LeFeber Northwoods Camp on Hardwood Lake, just nine miles northwest of Wabeno. From there, birdwatchers will travel to more than 150 survey sites in the southern half of the Nicolet portion of the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. Camping and cabins are available, and they’ll feed you, too — meals on Saturday, June 11 will be provided for participants and families.
