Phoenix men to play in Great Alaska Shootout
The Phoenix men’s basketball team will appear in the 2013 Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout from Nov. 27-30, opening the tourney against Pepperdine on Thursday, Nov. 28 in Anchorage. It’s been two decades since the Phoenix last made the trip to the shootout, the longest-running regular season college basketball tournament in the nation. “We are extremely excited to be invited to this prestigious tournament, the Great Alaska Shootout,” coach Brian Wardle said Thursday in a statement. “This event adds three more challenging games to our 2013-14 non-conference schedule, and also provides a tournament atmosphere and neutral-site games with some really good programs.” Read more.
