They have a heckuva men’s basketball team, as fans of Phoenix Nation know, but Belmont University of Nashville will be joining the Horizon League not in hoops but in men’s soccer. The Bruins, an NCAA Division I independent program the past two seasons — the Ohio Valley Conference does not sponsor men’s soccer — will be eligible to compete as an affiliate member this fall.
