Islam: ‘Beyond the Myths and Stereotypes, Breaking Down the Barriers’
The program, scheduled for 4 p.m. Monday (March 28) in the Phoenix Room, is sponsored by the American Intercultural Center, the Campus Life Diversity Task Force, Humanistic Studies and Good Times Programming. Amer Ahmed, the associate director of multi-ethnic studies from the University of Michigan will address issues related to Muslims in America, the religion of Islam and the socio-political and historical context needed to understand the dynamics of the so-called “Islam vs. the West” dynamic. He will also describe how the relative lack of knowledge of Islam and Muslims in the United States affects our campuses and workplace environments.
