Project Runway, Eco U edition: ‘Upcycle’ textiles for green fashion show

Students, faculty and staff are invited to participate in the first-ever “upcycle” textile showcase as part of UW-Green Bay’s participation in RecycleMania. Stop by the Office of Student Life to pick up a free piece of previously loved clean clothing (while supplies last), and “upcycle” it – convert it into a new garment through cutting, sewing, taping, gluing, etc. They’ll take a picture of the ‘before’ garment and then the designer/creator will model it at a Showcase event on Tuesday, March 5, in Phoenix Room B at 7 p.m. A panel of judges and the audience will vote on the winner. Prizes to Goodwill will be awarded for the top three transformations. Reusing and recycling eliminates waste generation and it’s an inexpensive and creative way to augment your wardrobe. Tell your students, tell you friends. Tell your ma, tell your pa. This event is inspired by http://www.newdressaday.com.
