Kauth issues reminder on applications for ‘Ideadvance’ seed fund
UW System, UW Extension and WEDC launched a $2 million seed fund to support faculty, staff and student entrepreneurs to commercialize high-potential, innovative ideas from across all disciplines. Whether directly related to your work on campus or not, the Ideadvance seed fund offers up to $75,000 in competitive grants and a structured program to help you evaluate strategic paths to market. Ryan Kauth of the Small Business Development Center reminds us that the next deadline is April 24 for the cohort that begins in June (a good fit for those who want to use the summer session to evaluate an idea). Funded projects have included ideas to improve language learning, to create safer sleeping environments for newborns, to test novel products for sports and leisure industries as well as innovations in education, manufacturing, construction and biotechnology.
