Reminder: ‘Course and Syllabus Design’ workshop is Friday
Prof. Jill White of Human Development is the presenter Friday (Feb. 5) for a CATL workshop from 1:45 to 3:15 p.m. in Room 217 MAC Hall: “Course design is an expanding area of research in the SoTL literature. In this workshop we will explore the best practices discussed in that literature, and apply them specifically to your courses. We will talk about issues such as: How well are you meeting the learning objectives of your department? Are you being asked to include learning objectives for general education requirements? How well do these mesh with the objectives you had for the course? What previous knowledge are students bringing in with them? What do you want students to remember two years from now? Are exams, papers or other assignments the best way to measure the learning your students are doing? To get the most out of the experience, bring the syllabus to a course that you would most like to re‐design or re‐structure. All other materials will be provided.”
